02 / How I work

A few habits
I try to keep.

01

Understand the problem first

Before I pick a framework, I want to know who’s going to use the thing, what they’re trying to get done and what’s in their way.

Keep it easy to follow

Clear names, small modules and APIs that do what they say. I write code assuming someone else will need to change it later, because usually someone does.

03

Ship it, then improve it

I’d rather get a working version out, see where it breaks and fix it than keep polishing something nobody has used yet.

A bit more
about me.

That’s a big reason I like backend systems, APIs and data work. I like figuring out how the pieces fit together, and then putting a clean interface on top so people can actually use it.

So far I’ve built a task manager, a backend for food donations, a Spark pipeline for NYC taxi data and a job matching tool. These days I’m going back through those projects to clean them up, and getting better at frontend while I’m at it.
